Method 1: Remove Speed Limit via the Settings Menu

The first method to remove the speed limit in Joyor scooters is removing it via the setting menu. The method used in this demonstration is applicable to Joyor Y6S and Y5S.

Step 1: Find a Flat and Stable Surface

Find a flat and stable surface to place the electric scooter. This could be a garage floor, driveway, or any area with a level surface. Ensuring stability is crucial to prevent the scooter from accidentally tipping over during the process.

Step 2:  Check the Default Speed

Power on the scooter by pressing the power button and then check its current speed. It will be in level one gear by default, press the mode button twice to achieve level 3 gear. Press the accelerator and you will be able to get a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

Step 3: Enter Menu Setting

Once you have confirmed its default speed, it is time to break the speed barrier. The procedure is very simple. Enter the menu setting by pressing the mode and power buttons together. You will be able to see a menu similar to as shown in the below picture.

Step 4: Press the Power Button

Press the power button until the menu reaches 25 Km/hr as shown in the below picture.

Step 5: Select Desired Speed

Now start pressing the mode button. You should be able to take the speed bar to as far as 100km/hr. You can also stop anywhere in between like 50 km/hr. Stop pressing the mode button once your desired speed shows up. Now slightly press the mode button until the speed indicator stops shaking. Take for example that you set it at 60 km/hr.

Step 6: Activate the Setting

Now, activate this setting by pressing together power and mode until the main menu appears again (as shown in the picture).

Now enter gear level 3 and press the accelerator to check the new speed. Hurrah, you must be able to break the default speed limit. Remember that there will always be a difference between the speed you saved and the speed you get  (as in our case when 60km/hr was saved in the setting then an actual speed of 48km/hr was achieved).

Speed Limit Removal for Joyor S5, S8S, and S10S

Step 1 is same as in above described method for Joyor Y5S and Joyor Y6S

Step 2:  Check the Default Speed

Power on the scooter by pressing the power button and then check its current speed. It will be in level one gear by default, press the + button twice to achieve level 3 gear. Press the accelerator and you will be able to get a maximum speed of 25 km/h. Whereas, speed at level 1 and level 2 gears would be 6 km/h and 15 km/h respectively.

Step 3: Enter Menu Setting

Enter the menu setting by pressing the + and – buttons together. You will be able to see a menu similar to as shown in the below picture.

Step 4: Press the Power Button

Press the power button until the P value reaches 10 as shown in the below picture.

Step 5: Change Lower Value

The value below P value would be 00001. Press – button to make it to 00000.

Step 6: Activate the Setting

Now, activate the setting by pressing together + and – buttons until the main menu appears again (as shown in the picture).

Step 7: Check the New Speed

Now enter gear level 3 and press the accelerator to check the new speed. Hurrah, you must be able to break the default speed limit and get a speed up to 82 km/h.

Method 2: Physical Modification of the Controller

When you look at it, a controller is just a combination of several wires. Each wire has its role. Therefore, removing just one wire will not cause the whole circuit to malfunction. The Joyor scooter used in this process is Joyor Y8S and Joyor F7+.

Step 1: Put Scooter on a Workbench or Table

If you have a workbench or a sturdy table, you can place the scooter on it for modifying the controller. This places the scooter at a comfortable working height, making it easier to access different parts.

Step 2: Locate and Open the Controller Cover

Locate the controller inside your Joyor scooter. The controller is located below the deck, beside the battery. Next, open the cover on the controller to expose the inside electrical components.

Step 3: Take out the Controller

Once you remove the cover, take out the controller. The controller will be a silver-colored rectangular metal box with many wires hanging out from it.

Step 4: Disconnect Battery

Once you remove the controller unit, you should disconnect the battery from it. Black and red wires should be taken apart as they will cut the battery off from the scooter.

Step 5: Cut Blue Colored Speed Limiting Wire

Cut the long, thin, dark blue wire coming from the controller using a wire cutter. Be very careful and do not cut the wrong blue wire as the Joyor controller has two blue wires. The thick blue wire coming from the connector injects power into the motor. If you cut that wire, then it will cause power disconnection (Please check the below picture labeling the different wires of controller unit).

Also, do not cut the wires while the scooter is on charge or is in any way connected to an electric outlet. Make sure to turn the scooter off completely before doing this process. Afterward, cover the wire ending using electrical tape or cover it with an isolator.

Step 6: Put Back the Controller

Now, put the controller back into the deck and close the cover with a screw. Congratulations, you have successfully removed the speed limiter for your Joyor scooter.

Method 3: Controller Replacement for Removing the Speed Limit

The third method to remove the speed limit on your Joyor scooter is to replace its controller. It is comparatively safe as you do not need to cut or remove wires. However, it is relatively costly compared to the other two methods as you have to purchase a new controller.
